Until then, I'll leverage my note taking apps for iOS and iPadOS. I've started playing with Roam to help untangle my brain but I haven't taken to it. So far, I'm leveraging Bear and starting to dabble with Notion. Notion text selection irks me and it's unlikely to make the cut.
Small fragments. Things I read, heard, or couldn't stop thinking about. These are too short for essays but too good to lose. Sort of like commonplace book meets tumblelog.
429 bits, and counting.
I've got years of Evernote content that needs to be extracted and moved into Bear. Looks like a good Fall/Winter 2020 project. This summer is all about organizing documents and photos across 4 different cloud storage providers.
So in the ultimate future, if we're heading toward a heat death...We won't be able to see other galaxies at some point. We won't even see evidence of the Big Bang, because we won't see anything else that's out there.
I think some of the best artists and designers really know who they are. They have an opinion and a sense of conviction in themselves that I respect, and I don't think I ever learned how to develop that myself. Part of that comes from being Asian.
Wholly new forms of encyclopedias will appear, ready made with a mesh of associative trails running through them, ready to be dropped into the memex and there amplified.
The theory of maximum taste says that each person's mind is defined by its upper limit—the best that it habitually consumes and is capable of consuming.
Backlogs should be growing indefinitely. What a good team will do is to accept that, and establish a good relationship between product and tech, and make sure you constantly keep reprioritizing.
It is a pedagogical experiment to see just how well the interpreter (actually EVALQUOTE/APPLY) defined on page 13 of that book [LISP 1.5 Programmer's Manual] really works. The answer is: perfectly, of course.
I'm stunned by how excellent the inaugural iOS 14 beta build is. I've done away with pages (something I've wanted for years). Further optimization and compaction is coming but this feels good. Excited for developers to create widgets (Spotify, Things, Microsoft)!
Can Twitter be used for knowledge work?
I'm considering a 90-day Twitter experiment where I share interesting reads and use threads to:
- Highlight insightful quotes/statistics
- Think through the presented ideas
- Build interesting connections
- Untangle my mind
The company will mold you to their exacting specifications to do whatever form of service they require...if your company needs a Java-speaking systems engineer and you have a degree in Art History, this is not a problem because you can be fixed.
This entire performance is flawless. Give your ears an hour of love.
Shipped off 7 rolls of film today to get developed. One of the rolls took 6 months to get through. I can't wait to see these old moments.
Just look at all of Google's products (had to shrink my browser viewport just to fit them all)! You can't tell me that there aren't cracks in the product lineup just waiting to get exploited by asymmetric innovations.
For big tech, a product is just a line item in a P&L statement. For a startup, it's life or death.
Everyone, regardless his age and job, can come up with extraordinary, wild, new and at times brilliant inventions.

Long term, it'll be interesting to see if the incumbents acquire Slack and Zoom to achieve domain leverage (opens cross-sale opps) or subsidize their competitive offerings with their existing base and just race to the price bottom (hard to beat free especially if you're an SMB).
Slack and Zoom may be the strongest companies that have emerged over the last decade that independently pose significant threats (DAU, subscriber numbers, etc.) to incumbents like Microsoft and Google as they try to monetize outside their cores in the collaboration space.
Let go of one physical item every day. Gift it to someone who'll get value or discard responsibly. No reason to sell and profit unless you must. Do this for 30 days. If you have nothing else to part with, give people your time and compassion.
